Lois Dingess

Lois V. (Grigsby) Dingess, 85, of Indian Trail, North Carolina, formerly of St. Albans, West Virginia, left her temporary home on Tuesday, July 28, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family at her daughter's home.

Born on July 20, 1941, in Coal City, West Virginia, Lois was the daughter of the late Ofra and Gladys Grigsby.

Lois retired after 20 years of dedicated service with Kmart. She shared 56 wonderful years of marriage with her beloved husband, Tommy Dingess Sr., building a life centered on love, family, and faith. She was a devoted wife, loving mother, cherished grandmother and great-grandmother, and faithful friend whose greatest joy came from spending time with her family.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 56 years, Tommy Dingess Sr.; her daughter, Tonui Dingess; her son, Tommy Dingess Jr.; her sister, Eleanor Lilly; and her brother, Roger Grigsby.

Those left to cherish her memory include her daughter, Terri Dingess Baloga and her husband, Jeff, of Indian Trail, North Carolina; her son, Timothy Dingess and his wife, Leann, of Eleanor, West Virginia; and her daughter, Tena Dingess Green and her husband, Timothy, of Kings Mountain, North Carolina. Lois was also blessed with nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren, each of whom brought her immense pride and happiness.

A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 5, 2026, at Tyler Mountain Funeral Home & Tyler Mountain Memory Gardens, with Carl Griffith officiating. Friends may visit with the family for one hour prior to the service. Entombment will follow at Cunningham Memorial Park.

The family extends its heartfelt gratitude to Divine Destiny Doulas, HHC—Sunshine Franklin, Olivia Franklin, and Kori Prunty—as well as Laurie Enriquez and the compassionate hospice nurses and social workers whose care and kindness meant so much.

Lois will forever be remembered for her quiet strength, kind heart, and unwavering love for her family. Though she has left her earthly home, her memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
