Marvin E. Harris, Sr., 84, of St. Albans peacefully passed away Wednesday, July 19, 2017. He was born March 7, 1933 in Charleston and was a son of Eugene M. and Mabel West Harris. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brother, David Harris and sisters, Betty Harris and Allene McClain. Marvin retired from Union Carbide of South Charleston after 41 years of service. He also served as Secretary Treasurer of the IAM Local 598 for 10 years. He attended the Browns Creek Church of God. He is survived by his wife, Edith June (Arbaugh) Harris; sons, Marvin “Herbie” Harris Jr. and his wife Linda of St. Albans and James L. Harris and his wife Cheri of Dover, Ohio; sister, Lois Elder of Sarasota, Florida; four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. A celebration of Marvin’s life will be 2:00 p.m., Sunday, July 23, 2017 at Casdorph & Curry Funeral Home, 110 B Street, St. Albans with his son, James L. Harris officiating. Burial will follow in Cunningham Memorial Park, St. Albans. There will be a gathering of family and friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
