I had the privilidge to be Mathews JROTC instructor at capital high school. It pains me to think that he is gone. I wish I could rewind time and try and figure things out, talk a little more, get to know him a little bette, figure things out. You are too young to be gone Matthew, I stare at your picture hanging in our classroom and wonder, I hope that your family finds the comfort they need in this crucial time. God bless them.

I met Mathew White at the Tuel Center I actually showed him around New Martinsville when he got there. When I first saw him he was quite for about an hour. Then he got up and introduced himself to everyone. He was never shy. He always did his best to make people laugh no matter what they were going through. He hated seeing people sad. The one thing though I will always remember about Mat is what he did for me this past Christmas. Everyone around me knew that all I wanted was a cross necklace. Well one day the dude was cleaning up downstairs for the yard sale we were having and he found this beautiful gold cross. He came upstairs and handed it to me with a smirk. He said merry christmas bro. Then he went home for Christmas and came back with a chain for the necklace. I'll never forget that. I'm gonna miss the dude alot. He always seemed so happy and full of life. Rest In Peace Mat.

I am so sorry to hear about Mathew. I didn’t know him well, but he was always so polite at Capital High School. My thoughts and prayers are with the entire family during this difficult time.

Have a peaceful and restful future. Matthew was one of my boys as well as his brother and cleo and James. I love and treated them as my own. Which at times he knew he was loved and treated as so with all my extreme heart and love with total respect as a young man looking to strive and make his way. He will be greatly missed. Yet never ever forgotten.he was a great kid and had a great personality that I adored in several ways. He will never not be one of mine. That's the boy I enjoyed the reality of truth and honesty. He was a great young man striving to be someone. He always made me laugh and god bless him for that. He is already greatly missed and loved by so many. May he rest in peace. ME AND ANDY WILL ALWAYS LOVE U.WE WILL ALWAYS KEEP U IN OUR HEARTS AS ONE OF THE BOYS. Pleases send the family there condolences! !!!STEP MOM AND DAD (ANDY AND JODI)
