He was born March 18, 1960, in Raleigh County, the son of Freddie L. and Glenda Mae Costilow Blackburn. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his fiancée, Johnna Toney Black.
Mike attended St. Albans High School and was a member of the Class of 1978. He was formerly employed with K-Mart in St. Albans for over 15 years and Lowes for 17. Mike's greatest passion was music in all facets. Mike was an outstanding musician, as well as an accomplished songwriter. He was a great friend, was willing to help anyone and will be remembered for his extraordinary sense of humor.
He is survived by brother, Steven Blackburn (Patricia) of Hometown; daughter, Amanda Skeens (Christopher); and grandchildren, Zachary and Gracie Skeens of Cross Lanes.
Celebration of Michael’s life will be 11 a.m. Saturday, October 20, at Casdorph & Curry Funeral Home, with Pastor Cliff Burdette officiating. Burial will follow in Cunningham Memorial Park, St. Albans.
Gathering of family and friends will be from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
