She was born February 3, 1936 in Cross Lanes, the daughter of Howard and Geneva Blackshire. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Robert Cobb, eldest son Kenneth Hayes, daughter Donna McCormick, and son Michael Hayes,
Dory retired from the USPS after 30 years of service where she finished as Postmaster of Milton. She was 1953 Miss Wildcat and received a key to the city of Nitro. A loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and friend that will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
She is survived by her son Gregory Hayes (Janie), with whom she made her home with, several grandchildren and great grandchildren, sister Jean Pritt, brother Howard Blackshire, Jr., younger sister Jo Ellen Burdette.
Celebration of Dory’s life will be 12:00 P.M. Wednesday, January 21, 2026 at Tyler Mt. Funeral Home with Pastor Danny Burdette officiating. Burial will follow in Tyler Mt. Memory Gardens, Cross Lanes.
Gathering of family and friends will be from 11 until time of service.
