Okey G. Roberts passed away on December 30, 2025 at the age of 92. He grew up in Hamlin, WV and graduated from Hurricane High School. He received a football scholarship to Morris Harvey College now University of Charleston.
While in college he met his wife and they moved to Dunbar WV. He went to work in the Construction Department at Carbide in 1957 until he retired in 1990. He was a big fan of WVU football and the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Okey was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years Yolanda Roberts, parents Orban and Lena Roberts and brother Gary Roberts. He is survived by his daughter Susan Blackhurst (Don), son Stephen Roberts (Gina) Grandchildren Linsey Foster (David), David Blackhurst, Jacquie Roberts (Cullen), Jordan Roberts (Allison) Great Grandchildren: Camron Foster, Gracelyn Blackhurst, sister Glenno Mayes and sister in law Lilly Roberts along with several nieces and nephews.
Our family wants to thank Brookdale Assisted Living staff , especially the memory unit team for taking such loving care of our father while he was there.
Respecting our fathers wishes, there will be a private family burial service. His final resting place will be beside our Mother at Tyler Mountain Memory Gardens.
