of family and friends. She was born on April 23, 1957, in Charleston, West Virginia. She is
survived by her son, Daniel and Jillian Bolyard and their children of Farmington, NC, and Greg
and Kim Burton (brother and sister-in-law) plus their children and grandchildren. She was
preceded in death by her father, John William Burton, and her mother, Betty Burton Halstead.
Pam was a proud member of the Charleston Catholic High School Class of 1975, where she formed friendships that remained a meaningful part of her life for decades. Among those lifelong friends were Nancy Raines Chatterton, John Knight, and Judy Knight Sodaro. Nancy shared an especially close bond with Pam and stood by her through life’s highs and lows. Her friendship and steadfast presence during Pam’s illness made that difficult journey easier to endure. John became a great source of comfort to Pam during and after the planning of the 50th Charleston Catholic High School reunion. His steady hand and reassuring voice were a meaningful source of support. Judy remained a dear friend from high school onward, and the time she spent with Pam throughout the years—and especially during her recent journey—brought her comfort.
Pam also shared a close bond with two of her co-workers, Amy Adam and Stephanie Pernell. Amy and Steph quickly became dear friends whom Pam spoke of often. Their friendship, caring presence, and willingness to show up whenever needed were gifts she cherished deeply.
Pam carried her Fighting Irish spirit with her throughout her life. Charleston Catholic High School was more than a place of learning to her; it was a source of treasured memories, lasting friendships, laughter, and traditions she held close to her heart. She spoke often and fondly of her high school years and remained deeply connected to many of her classmates over the decades.
One of Pam’s greatest joys was celebrating the friendships that began in the halls of Charleston Catholic. She especially looked forward to her 50th class reunion, where stories were shared, memories relived, and lifelong bonds renewed. Her classmates were not simply friends from the past; they were part of her extended family.
Pam’s family offers heartfelt thanks to the doctors and nurses at WVU–Ruby Memorial for the exceptional care they provided during and after her surgery. Their warmth and compassion gave her strength and comfort as she faced pain and difficult struggles.
Pam’s family also extends heartfelt thanks to the doctors, nurses, and staff at Vandalia Health Cancer Center and the 5th floor Oncology wing. During the final two months of her journey, their care was a shining light in difficult days. A special thank-you goes to Kortney Major, whose smile, warmth, and compassion helped Pam leave this world with dignity and grace.
Pam’s family also extends special thanks to Justin Carpenter and Joey Canterbury, whose care, laughter, and warmth made her trips to and from radiation something she genuinely looked forward to.
Pam will be remembered for her warm heart, loyal friendships, and spirited personality, as well as for the way she made others feel welcomed and valued. She had a special gift for keeping connections alive and reminding those around her of the importance of friendship, faith, and community.
Her memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her, especially her fellow Fighting Irish classmates, who shared in a chapter of life she held especially dear.
A Celebration of Life for Pam will be held Friday, June 19th, with Mass at 11:00 a.m., at Holy
Trinity Catholic Church in Nitro, WV, followed immediately by a reception in the Parish Hall.
In honor of Pam’s beloved Fighting Irish spirit, guests are encouraged to wear green and white
