Patricia A. Yanov

July 16, 1943June 6, 2018

On June 6, 2018 in the morning sunshine, Patricia Aileen “Patty” Yanov, 74, peacefully made her departure to be with the Lord. She was born July 16, 1943 to Paul and Virginia Williams in Dunbar, West Virginia, where she decided also to settle down and raise a family of her own. On any given day she could be found behind a camera documenting each step of her journey- her son’s baseball games, her parents heading out the door for church, her sister stepping off a plane for a visit, her grandchildren smiling slyly, a sharp new outfit, the cats curled up by the window, and her husband sleeping soundly with their dog. She was a lover of shopping and knew exactly when and where to find the best sales for everything, and found her greatest pleasure in buying gifts for her friends and family. For 30 years she worked as a legal assistant at Bowles Rice McDavid Graff & Love, where she organized the annual Secret Santa event, which brings happiness to children in need every Christmas. Her time at the firm gave rise to a lifelong bond with her best friend Mary Sweet, whom she saw regularly after retiring and shared her secrets, laughter and love. Though her achievements and accomplishments are numerous, the most impressive thing about Patty was her ability to live honestly. She was a woman who turned from the path of least resistance and did what was right in all situations of her life, determined to set an example for her son and grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her brothers, Paul A. Williams and Karl A. Williams, and Mary Sweet, her dearest friend. She is survived by her husband, John P. Yanov, and her son, Darrin G. Willard and wife, Sarah; her loving sister and friend, Laura A. Dirkx and her husband, Bob; her brother, Robert L. Williams; and six grandchildren: Thomas Willard, Josh Willard, Chance Willard, Rose Willard, Olivia Willard, and Patrick Willard; her neice Terrilee Arrasmith; her nephews, Robert Munday, Karl Williams II, and Paul Williams III; and her great niece Ashley Hoey. Patty was admired by many and unceasingly brightened the lives of those she met with her generosity, her charming sense of humor, and her eagerness to love on those who needed it. May angels lead her in. In lieu of flowers, take someone you love out for an English Dog and a milkshake. Patty would want that. Friends may call Friday, June 15th, 2018 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Tyler Mountain Funeral Home, 5233 Rocky Fork Rd., Cross Lanes, WV, 25313. My sincere condolences to Pat’s family. I worked along with Pat those same 30 years at Bowles Rice. She was one of my favorite people. She will be missed.
