Pearl Ann Bailey

PEARL ANN BAILEY (Ann), 89, long-time resident of Tyler Mountain, died peacefully on July 22, 2026, after a brief illness.

Born on November 10, 1936, in Rocky Fork, Ann attended Baber Agee Methodist Church and was a proud 1955 graduate of Nitro High School. She was a founding member of the Rocky Fork Reunion and worked tirelessly every year to make the gathering a special event for all who attended.

Ann loved to cook and bake, and she always made room at her dining room table for “one more.” Known as Nannan to her family and friends, nobody ever went hungry at Nannan’s and Pawpaw’s home. At Christmastime, she and Pawpaw decorated their entire house, hanging lights even from the high front porch. Her table was literally covered from one end to the other with her famous, homemade desserts!

What mattered most to Nannan was her family. She rarely traveled far from home, but preferred to remain in her beloved West Virginia, “on the hill” at Tyler Mountain, where she planted beautiful flowers, canned jellies and vegetables, and fed all the neighborhood kids. She even babysat many of them as they were growing up. Despite the constant flow of kids through her house, her home was spotless. Ann was a meticulous homemaker, cooking, cleaning, washing dishes by hand in her kitchen sink, and running the vacuum nearly every day. Everyone was welcome and everyone felt at home at Nannan’s and Pawpaw’s place.

Ann was preceded in death by her mother and father, Ethel Retta Lanham and Edward Daniel Lanham; her sister, Clara Belle Huston; her brother Charles Lanham, and her loving husband of sixty-two years, Harold Bailey Sr.

She is survived by daughters Debbie Davis and Lisa Abraham (Ken); son Harold Bailey Jr. (Lisa); granddaughters, Megan Patterson (Randy), Shanna Bailey (Zachary), Ashleigh Abraham, and Alyssa Abraham Kroboth (Tim); grandsons, Andrew Davis (Heather), Benjamin Davis (Torrie), Bradley Davis, and Brandon Bailey (Jasy); great-granddaughters, Stella Cook, Ruby Cook, Georgia Cook, Maxine Ruth Patterson, and great-grandsons, Bryson Davis and Tripp Patterson.

Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 28, 2026, at Tyler Mountain Funeral Home, 5233 Rocky Fork Road, Cross Lanes, WV 25313. Friends and family will gather there on Wednesday, July 29, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. and the funeral service will begin at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Ken Abraham officiating. Burial will follow in Tyler Mountain Memory Gardens, Cross Lanes.
