Randall A. Carpenter 85, of Cross Lanes, went peacefully to be with his Lord and Savior on October 22, 2026, at his home which he and his father built, with his family by his side.

He was born April 4, 1941, in Charleston a son of Bert and Melva Price Carpenter. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother Thayer Carpenter.

Randall graduated from Nitro High School in 1959 and earned a machinist degree from WV State College. Those skills combined with his incredible mechanical abilities made him the guy that so many leaned on and came to, to get “Anything” fixed or made.

He later worked in the mobile home industry. He flagged, set up, and repaired homes for several companies.

Then with self-made toolboxes and a legendary Dodge Van he started his own business called Carpenter’s Mobile Home Service and Repair. With his skills and hard work, it was a successful venture until he stopped working for his self.

Then he worked for Moles Mobile Home Movers owned by Dickie Martin who Randall respected as a great person and friend.

After his retirement Randall still did fix it jobs for anyone who needed it and worked part time for his close friend Riley Gunnoe at Riley’s Tools in St Albans.

Randall loved the outdoors and wildlife. He especially enjoyed fishing. One of his favorite pastimes was travelling to flea markets in search of the next good deal.

Randall was a gentle, caring, and soft hearted but strong man that will be missed by everyone that knew him. He had countless friends and cherished them all. He was a loyal attendee at Living Hope Church in Cross Lanes.

He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Mary “Shine” Carpenter, son Troy Carpenter (Shelly), daughter Lorie Nolan (Dave), his two grandchildren Ryan Nolan (Domonique) and Erin Nolan and his first great grandson Xander whom he missed knowing by mere hours.

Celebration of Randall’s life will be 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, October 28, 2026, at Living Hope Church, Cross Lanes with Pastor Ryan Fulmer officiating. Burial will follow in Tyler Mt. Memory Gardens, Cross Lanes.

Gathering of family and friends will be from 12 PM until 2:00 PM at the church.
