The family wishes to thank those special nurses and aides at Woodland Oaks who cared for her the last few years, and Community Hospice for their kind and gentle care during her final days.
In her lifetime she was not only an incredible mother, grandmother, and GG, but in her younger years she sold Avon, worked in the caregiving field as a nurse’s aide, and then as a home healthcare worker.
She had a quiet and unassuming personality but was passionate about her family, she would go the extra mile for others, was generous to a fault, was brave, and always had a kind word. She loved Jesus and her favorite hymn and gospel songs were In the Garden and He Touched Me, and favorite Bible verses came from Psalm 121. Those at her church, Trinity Presbyterian Church in New Martinsville, WV will miss her sweet smile and gentle spirit.
In her 50’s, as a new widow who had never traveled internationally or learned a second language, she bravely made a trip on her own to Peru, South America. She was always very proud of this. She made the best southern chicken and dumplings, delicious yeast rolls, and strawberry pretzel jello dessert for her family and friends. She loved to read, travel, and work on word search books.
She was a precious and rare jewel and her family will miss her dearly. A memorial and celebration of life service will be held in Michigan at a later date.
