Sharon “Sherry” Deem Morgan, 52, went home to be with the Lord, her daddy, her grandmother, and her beloved dog Lucy, on December 16, 2024 after a brief illness. She was born and raised on Rockland Road in Ronceverte, West Virginia, but resided in Maxwelton, West Virginia with her husband of 15 years, James Morgan, where she was known for her beautiful smile, generous personality, and outstanding cooking skills that she learned from her grandmother Deem. Her specialties where her famous pepperoni rolls that she made during WVU Mountaineer football and basketball games as well as Christmas dinners. She always made way too much because she did not want anyone to go hungry as she put it. She was always willing to lend a helping hand or offer words of comfort to whoever needed it.
She was the beloved daughter of Thomas and Barbara Deem of Ronceverte and the late Charles W. Deem. Sherry was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Sam and Ethel Deem, and her maternal grandparents, George and Peggy Napier. Sherry loved many things in this life including her children, her step-children, her grandsons, her friends, vacations to the beach, especially Destin, FL and Gatlinburg, TN, the WVU Mountaineers, and Loretta Lynn. But her greatest love was providing a wonderful Christmas experience for all of her family and friends. She was a mother of three wonderful boys, a stepmother to three beautiful children, and the best Nana to her precious grandsons.
Left to cherish her memory is her devoted husband, James Morgan, her three sons, Michael, Jonathan, and Justin Delong, her three bonus children, Courtney Fraley (Jacob), Jarrett Morgan, Bailey Morgan, her two precious grandsons, Aden and Paxton Fraley, and her faithful spoiled rotten Miniature Australian Shepperd, Charlie, who she loved with all of her heart.
Sherry is survived by her loving parents, Thomas and Barbra Deem, brothers Samuel (Emily), Tommy (Angie), and sister Ethel. She will be fondly remembered by her nephews Austin, Lukas, Jaxon, Eli, and her niece Ashlee who she all loved as if they were children of her own.
Adhering to Sherry’s final wishes there will be no formal funeral services and she will be cremated. In lieu of a funeral Sherry made it known that she would rather have an outdoor celebration of life in her honor. This celebration of life to honor our Sherry will occur at the Ketron picnic shelter, church, and cemetery area on Rockland Road in Ronceverte in the Spring. More details on that event will follow later. Sherry’s husband and family hopes that everyone who can make it does so that we can all laugh, smile, cry, and cherish her memory that will last with all of us for all of eternity.
