

She was born February 9, 1938, in Charleston, the daughter of George and Lexie Smith Vance. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by son, James “Jimmy” Summerfield, granddaughter, Danya Beth Pitzer, and several brothers and sisters.
Shirley Mae worked retail for many years at K Mart, Ames, and Wal Mart. Shirley Mae always had a smile on her face and would light up a room. A loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend that will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
She is survived by her loving husband of 39 years, James “Doc” Fields, children, Carolyn Parsons, of Dunbar, Patricia Brannon (Brad), of Elkview, Vincent Pitzer (Robin), of Springfield, OH, Teresa Owens, of Tampa, FL, Donald Pitzer, Jr. (Stephanie), of Nitro, Lisa Yauger (Joey), of Cincinnati, OH, Mike Fields (Lisa), of St Albans, Missy Sturm (Jimmy), of Charleston, sister, Nancy Gilmore, of Red House, grandchildren,Chad Parsons, Phillip Parsons, Christina Beaudry, Bradford Brannon, Tiffany Shaffer, Eddie Jarrett, Kirsten Ecrement, Rachel Honchorek, Zach Pitzer, Tristyn Pitzer, Jordan Pitzer, Kristofer Lawrence, Celine Yauger, and Lexis Yauger, 13 great grandchildren, 2 great great grandchildren, and a host of other relatives and friends.
Celebration of Shirley’s life will be 1:00 P.M. Tuesday, February 18, 2025 at Tyler Mt. Funeral Home with her nephew Pastor Jerry Vance officiating. Burial will follow in Tyler Mt. Memory Gardens, Cross Lanes.
Gathering of family and friends will be from noon until time of service.
