

Sonja was born on June 17, 1938 in McDowell County, WV to the late Walter Glenn Hart and Valeria Blanche Davidson. She was a homemaker.
She was a member of Community Chapel Church in Cross Lanes where she played the organ and taught Sunday School for 40 years. She recently attended Woodland Church in Troutville. In addition to her parents, Sonja was preceded in death by her loving husband of 46 years, Clarence Edward (Junior) Hill; sisters, Yvonne Garnes and Sandra Witt; brother, Donald Hart, a grandson Derick Nicely and some cousins, brothers-in law, and two nephews.
She is survived by her daughters, Julie Ann Williams (Mike) of Troutville, Christy Lynn Nicely (Danny) of Selma, VA, and Valerie Dawn Hemme of Cross Lanes; sisters Delores Johnson of Scott Depot, Rheta Williams of South Hills and Brenda Legg of Evansville, IN; sisters-in-law, Mary Gehrig and Dinah Atkins (Dick) and brother-in-law Randall Witt; grandchildren, Adam Hemme, Bradley Williams, Claire Hemme, Jonathan Hemme, LeeAnn Nicely McCulley, Lucas Nicely, and Rachel Williams Pritt; six great-grandchildren, Alex, Jaxon, Mackenzie, Olivia, Sophie and Theo; a host of nieces and nephews, and a few cousins.
A funeral service will be held on Monday, June 24, 2024 at 2:00 PM at the Tyler Mountain Memory Gardens in Cross Lanes, WV with Reverend Mayford Witt officiating. The family will receive friends on Monday afternoon from 12:00 Noon until the time of service at the funeral home. In addition to flowers, memorial contributions in Sonja’s honor may be sent to the Union Mission, 503 Leon Sullivan Way, Charleston, WV 25301.
