

William Robert "Bob" Adkins, 80, of St. Albans, went home to be with the Lord on April 18, 2016, peacefully at home with his wife of 55 years and two children by his side. He was born Jan. 24, 1936 in Spring Hill, the son of William "Crancy" and Velma Almeda Adkins. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Leon Adkins. Bob was a 1953 graduate of St. Albans High School and was a U.S. Army veteran, having served with the 82nd Airborne Division. He was a lifelong active member of Mount Tabor Church of God, having served as Sunday school teacher/superintendent, deacon and trustee. Bob was the treasurer of the West Virginia Conference of the Churches of God, General Conference for 30 years and served on the Administrative Council of the Allegheny Region of the CGGC for over a decade. He enjoyed singing and sang many years with the Chapelmen Quartet. His robust bass voice will be missed by many in the congregation at Mount Tabor. He loved his God, church and family. Bob enjoyed long drives, a good meal and a cold Pepsi. He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Nadine G. Adkins; son, Robert Leon Adkins (Missy) of St. Albans; daughter, Tina Marie Harrison (Gregg) of St. Albans; grandchildren, Ember Adkins, Andrew Adkins, Zoe Adkins and step-granddaughter, Allison Harrison; and sisters, Mae Wine of Red House, Doris Rowley of St. Albans and Sharon Jarrett of St. Albans. Celebration of Bob’s life will be 1 p.m. Thursday, April 21, at Mount Tabor Church of God with his nephew, Pastor Dennis Wyer, officiating. Burial will follow in Mount Tabor Church of God Cemetery. Gathering of family and friends will be from 11 a.m. until time of service at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Mount Tabor Church of God, P.O.
