Barbara Palmietto

Barbara Ann Palmietto of Cortlandt Manor, NY passed away on Monday, December 24, 2012. Barbara was born on July 17, 1939 in New York City to Eugene and Charlotte (Wetsel) Myers. She graduated JMU with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business and then worked for many years as an Executive Secretary at IBM Research. She then worked for over ten years as the Librarian at the Furnace Woods School and retired from Northern Westchester BOCES as an Administrative Assistant. Barbara was a caring and fun person. She loved to work in her garden and loved sports; she was an avid Giants and Mets fan. Her biggest joy in life was her family; she was a devoted mother, beloved sister and loving grandmother, she will be greatly missed by her family and friends. She is survived by her loving children; David Palmietto, Cynthia Russo and her husband Rick and Michele Reilly and her husband Kevin, beloved sisters; Dottie Dougherty and her husband Keith and Ginny Popiolek and her husband Gene and the “Joy s of her Life” her 5 adoring grandchildren; Zachary, Kayla, Tyler, Ryan and Payton. Visitation was held on Wednesday, December 26, 2012 from 2-4 and 7-8pm with a Funeral Service at 8pm at the EDWARD F. CARTER FUNERAL HOME, 41 Grand St., Croton-on-Hudson, NY. Burial of Ashes will take place in the near future with a private family service at Woodbine Cemetery in Harrisonburg, VA.In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Barbara’s name can be made to the American Heart Association,

Barbara and I were college classmates and I have so many wonderful memories of those carefree college years!!! Although we lost touch after college, I have thought of her and her wonderful personality often through the years.
