

Edgar "Ricardo" Vasquez, 62, passed away on Thursday 12 April surrounded by his family in Cortlandt Manor. Throughout his life as a son, husband, father, grandfather, buddy and friend, Edgar brought his boundless energy and good humor to every encounter, including during his battle with cancer. Edgar was born on 13 July 1949 in the Province of Carchi Tulcan, Ecuador.
Edgar carried himself in a special way; he was a kind-hearted man who won people over with his playful nature and will surely be missed by all who knew him. He graduated from the Central University of Ecuador and earned his MD at Javeriana University. Edgar came to the United States in 1987 with his family to start a new chapter in their lives. He made this sacrifice to his children so they could have a better way of life. The past nine years, Edgar worked for the Bedford School District Transportation Department.
Edgar is survived by his loving wife Fanny and his sons and daughter, Richard and wife Linda, Francisco and Johanna. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Teddy, Robert and Victoria. In addition he is survived by his mother, Maria Teresa Mendez and his brothers and sisters; Lillian, Maria Teresa, Gustavo, Patricio, Fernando, Pablo, Maria Luisa and Diego Vasquez. He was predeceased by his sister Ana Maria Vasquez. The roots of his family tree are widespread, with family members throughout the country and Ecuador.
Edgar will be missed by all and remembered for his smiles, sense of humor, his love of life, caring and for always helping anyone in need.
