Joan Stull, a resident of Thornwood, NY, and former resident of Mechanicsburg, PA, passed away on August 20, 2025. She was 95 years old. Joan was born on August 22, 1929, in New York, NY, to the late Charles and Lena (Matzner) Schott. Joan was a beautician for many years, and worked as a nursing assistant for many years prior to her retirement.
Joan was known for her warmth, compassion, and unwavering kindness. She was a true matriarch—lovingly known as “everyone’s grandmother”—always ready with a warm smile along with her quick wit. She was everyone’s favorite person. Always impeccably dressed in her makeup and hair styles no matter the occasion. Her spirit touched not only her family but countless friends and neighbors. Joan had a gift for making people welcome and valued, and her legacy of love will live on in all who knew her.
She is survived by her two sons, Michael (Patricia) Cicatelli and William J. (Barbara) Cicatelli; her cherished grandchildren: Barbara (Peter), Jennifer (Mark), Amanda, and JohnPaul; her great grandchildren: Mason, Arya, Bella, Luka, Niko, Madison, Joey, Alianna, and her extended family and dear friends, all of whom she held close to her heart.
She was predeceased by her beloved husband Llyod, her siblings Dorothy and Charles and other family members who she now joins in eternal rest.
A Funeral Mass celebrating Joan’s life will be held at 11:30am at St. Augustine Church in Ossining, NY on what would have been her 96th birthday, August 22, 2025—a fitting tribute to a life so beautifully lived and deeply loved.
