Makoto Noda, a resident of Croton-on-Hudson, NY, passed away on March 4, 2024. He was 86 years old. He moved to the United States from Japan and pioneered teppanyaki cooking with Benihana in Atlanta, San Francisco, and Boston in the 1970s before opening his own restaurant, Noda's Open Grill, in Yonkers, NY. He later owned and operated Noda’s Japanese Steakhouse in White Plains, NY with Henry Watanabe.
He is survived by his wife Akiko, his two daughters Ayumi and Sakura (Daniel), and granddaughter Astrid.
