Maria Loy

Maria was born on December 12, 1925, in Yugoslavia to the late Peter and Gertrude (Panther) Handler. A native of Morobitz, Gottschee, she immigrated to the United States and lived in Ridgewood, Queens before eventually moving to Peekskill. She always walked to visit with family and friends and attended mass on Sundays at St. Aloysius Church. Maria loved the Gottscheer Zeitung and was a member of the Gottscheer Hall, where she enjoyed the community and many events. She was very involved with her family and loved spending as much time with them as possible.

She is survived by her niece Ingrid, great-niece Christine, and great-nephew Eric.

She was predeceased by her husband Peter Loy and brother Peter Handler.

Visitation is scheduled for Thursday, July 17th from 9:30-11:30 am at Edward F Carter Funeral Home, 41 Grand Street, Croton-on-Hudson, NY 10520 where a prayer service is scheduled for 11:00 am. Interment to follow at All Faiths Cemetery, 67-29 Metropolitan Avenue, Middle Village, NY 11379.
