He was born October 25, 1930 in Chicago to Herman and Louise (Stege) Maier. He married Marcella Miller on December 26, 1953 in San Fransisco, California.
He was an avid Cubs fan, and enjoyed working and visiting at his son’s shop.
He is survived by his wife Marcella, his children Michael (the late Brenda), Duane Anne, and Craig (Jeanne) Maier, his grandchildren Mark, Christopher, and Eric Maier, his step-grandchildren Jason and Joshua Fairbanks, and his cousin Lorraine Miller.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 pm Tuesday, March 13 at Querhammer and Flagg Funeral Home, 500 W. Terra Cotta Ave., Crystal Lake. A funeral service will be at 10:00am on Wednesday, March 14, at the funeral home.
Interment will be in Windridge Memorial Park in Cary.
