Barbara Ann Nielsen

Barbara Ann Nielsen, born on February 2, 1945, in Elgin, Illinois, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on December 31, 2024. She was the cherished daughter of William and Viola (Gehrke) Wierer.

Barbara is survived by her children, Jim (Missy) Nielsen, Jan (Chris) Beetham, and Son-in-law, Dave; Grandchildren, Rebecca, Haley, Aaron, CJ, and Hannah; Siblings, Larry, Diane (the late Keith), Rol (Eileen), and many nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her Dad, William; Mom, Viola; Stepdad, Melvin; Husband, Wayne; Daughter, Judy; and Brothers Norm and Bill (Vickie).

She treasured the bonds she shared with her family and carried that love throughout her life. She was known for her sense of humor and charm. Barb found joy in simple pleasures. Especially having a good cup of coffee in her favorite Hardee’s cup, while engaging in conversations with her family and friends.

Her memory will be forever cherished by those who knew her. May her legacy of love and connection bring comfort to all who mourn her passing.

There will be a visitation from 9am until the Noon funeral service on Monday, January 6 at Querhammer & Flagg Funeral Home, 500 W. Terra Cotta Ave., Crystal Lake. Interment will follow in McHenry County Memorial Park, Woodstock.
