Basha B. Parashis

Basha Parashis passed away peacefully on June 11, 2025, at JourneyCare in Barrington, Illinois. Basha was born on December 22, 1945, in Hattiesburg, Mississippi to William and Edna Bass. She was the youngest of 4 children. She married the love of her life, Tom Parashis on July 13, 1984. Her children include Nick (Grace) Parashis, Cassandra (Rich) DeLage, Tricia (Matt) Slezak, Shannon (Kevin) Niemann and Christopher Cáceres. She had 13 wonderful grandchildren: Shannon (Oliver) Downey, Gabriel (Jennifer) Niemann, Brandon (Maddie) DeLage, Angelica (Chris) Castro, Jay (Susie) DeLage, Max (Madison) DeLage, Cole (Brooke) DeLage, Miranda Niemann, Allyssa Niemann, Caleb Niemann, Tyler Slezak, Samantha Slezak, and Caden Manrose. She was blessed with 10 great grandchildren; Hannah Wood, Brooke Wood, Blair DeLage, Brooks DeLage Charlotte Niemann, Blakely DeLage, Harrison DeLage, Billie DeLage, Quinn DeLage and Liliana Bevier.

Basha will be remembered with an incredible smile, a beautiful singing voice and a funny sense of humor. Some of her favorite memories have been traveling on the coast with Tom and her “sister of the heart” Dorothy Williamson and many great friends throughout the years. She cherished the time she spent with her family, the holidays being her favorite time to get together. She will be deeply missed and forever loved by all of them.

Her Celebration of Life will be held at Querhammer and Flagg Funeral Home on July 11, 2025 from 4-7.
