Christine Elizabeth Schwartz

Born July 18, 1947, in Chicago, Illinois, she was the daughter of the late Harold and Francis (Deichestetter) Scholpp and was raised in Crystal Lake, Illinois. She graduated from Crystal Lake High School in 1965 and later earned an Associate Degree in Laboratory Science from McHenry County College. Before retiring, she worked as a skilled laboratory technician for many years.

Christine was a woman of many simple joys. She enjoyed cross-stitch, reading, crossword puzzles, cryptograms, and Scrabble. She never met a stranger and enjoyed conversations with friends, family, and those she met along the way.

On March 30, 1985, she married Alan Lee Schwartz, with whom she shared 41 years of marriage. Together they built a life with a few stops along the way including Vernon Hills, Illinois; Abingdon, Maryland; Milan, Tennessee; and finally, Gallatin, Tennessee. Alan preceded her in death on April 25, 2026.

She is survived by her children, Robert Butt, Steven (Julia Bishop) Beautie, Teresa (Christopher) Scott, and Kristina (Michael) Hartnett; her stepson, William (Kristi) Schwartz; her grandchildren, Joshuah Bishop-Butte, Damien Bishop, Elizabeth (Andrew) Goodger, Alexis Goodger, Jillian Scott, Shane, Tristan, and Colby Hartnett, and Nathan and Lilly Schwartz; her sisters, Algene (James) Nulle and Eileen Gierke; her brother, Joseph (Charlotte) Scholpp; her lifelong friend, Patricia Boone; and many beloved nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Alan Lee Schwartz; her former husband and the father of her children, Fritz Herman Butt; and her brother-in-law, David Gierke.
