He was born January 11, 1952, in Wooster, Ohio, to David Sr. and Winifred (Mayers) Rampe.
David was a U.S. Army veteran and attended University of Wisconsin.
After a successful sales career with Follett Library Resources, with territories based in Illinois and later Washington, he returned to Crystal Lake where he worked for the United States Postal Service until retirement.
Following retirement he volunteered at both Centegra Hospital in McHenry and Crystal Lake Public library. Over the years he enjoyed a variety of hobbies: reading, skydiving, scuba diving, flight lessons and riding his bicycle. He was a devoted and loving uncle to Alex and Katie, a loyal friend and a very supportive son and brother.
He is survived by his siblings, Dan (Paula) Rampe, and Nancy (Jay) Adami; and his niece and nephew, Katie and Alex.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Matthew.
A visitation for David will be held Thursday, April 24, 2025 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Querhammer & Flagg Funeral Home, 500 W Terra Cotta Ave, Crystal Lake, Illinois 60014.
