Born on October 3, 1957 to Harold and Marie Sable, Don was known by those close to him for his quiet, independent nature and his appreciation for a simple life. He dedicated much of his professional life to construction, where he owned his own truck and later served as a field equipment inspector. While he lived alone, his life was full of the quiet rewards of a well-kept home and the steady companionship of dear friends. Don found contentment in his daily routines and the peace of his own company, yet he cared for his family.
Don is survived by his two sisters, Joyce Schoening and Judith Petropulos; his five nieces and nephews; and several great-nieces and great-nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents Harold Sable and Marie Tomer.
Though Don did not have a spouse or children of his own, his legacy lives on through his family and the small group of close friends who shared in his journey. He will be missed by all who knew the man behind the quiet exterior.
There will be a gathering on Friday, Aug 7, 2026 from 4pm to 7pm at Querhammer & Flagg Funeral Home in Crystal Lake, IL.
A private interment will be at Maple Cemetery, Kirkland, IL
