Dorothy Marie Stanek (Meyerzove), age 78, passed away peacefully on November 3, 2020 at Mills Peninsula Medical Center. Dorothy was born on June 29th1942 in Chicago, Illinois. She was the eldest child of Adam and Mary (Panek) Stanek and spent many wonderful years in the area. Dorothy married Leland (Lee) Meyerzoveon August 7, 2001at St Peter Catholic Church in Pacifica, California, in a nuptial mass Catholic/Jewish celebration and spent five wonderful years with Lee until his passing on October 23, 2006.
Dorothy attended Loyola University in Chicago, IL where she received her degree in English Literature in 1964. Her interests brought her to California in 1966 and in 1974 Dorothy bought a home in Pacifica. Dorothy loved to travel and visit the many museums and art galleries. Her home overlooked a scenic valley and ocean views were a short distance away. She enjoyed sitting in her yard admiring the beautiful scenery and wildlife. She worked for the Social Security Administration in San Francisco for 30 years, before retiring in 1995. Dorothy was a person of deep faith and an active member of St. Peter Catholic Church. She enjoyed Bible Study groups, sponsored RCIA participants and served as a Lector and prayer reading during Mass She made many good friends through her Church connections, in particular her dear friend, Kathleen Bissell, who has helped her through many troubling times.
Dorothy is survived by her siblings Jim, Rich (Colleen), Sandy and her nieces and nephews Rich (Laura), Ryan, Adam (Sarah), Lauren, Garrett, and Elyse.
Visitation will be from 9:30am to 10:30am on Saturday, November 21 at Querhammer & Flagg Funeral Home, 500 W. Terra Cotta Ave., Crystal Lake. The funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11am at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, 451 W. Terra Cotta Ave., Crystal Lake. Due to current restrictions, masks and social distancing are required. For those people unable to attend, the funeral Mass will be Livestreamed on the Querhammer & Flagg Funeral Home Facebook. Interment in Crystal Lake Memorial Park.
