

Helen Pauline Wood, 88, of Hoffman Estates, formerly of Spring Hill, Florida, Claredon Hills, IL and Eureka, Montana, died Thursday, June 19, 2014 at Alexian Brothers Hospice. She was born October 21, 1925 in Eureka, Montana to Joseph and Juanita Peltier. She grew up on a ranch in Eureka, Montana where she met Philip B. Wood. They were married on February 6, 1946.
Helen worked as a secretary at Crane in Chicago and for A1 Secretary Service in Oak Brook. In her younger years she taught yoga, enjoyed ballroom and square dancing, gardening, was a blue ribbon quilter and loved dogs. Her greatest joy was her grand and great-grandchildren.
Helen is survived by her daughter Sandra (Alfred) Scaletta; grandchildren Matthew (Melissa) Webster, Jonica (Matt) Huntman, Cynthia (Erich) Hitzeman, David (Brianne) Pokorny; great-grandchidren Joseph, Hailey, Makenna, Elliot, Braden, Brooklyn, Harper, and Hudson; sisters Jeanne Harper and Hazel Beverly.
She is preceded in death by her husband, mother, father, stepmothers Mabel and Iva Peltier, daughter Patricia Kathleen Webster, granddaughter Shannon Webster, great-granddaughter Arabella Rose Huntman, and brothers Leonard Smith, Gerald Smith and Richard Peltier.
Visitation will be from 3-7 pm on Wed, June 25 at Querhammer & Flagg Funeral Home, 500 W. Terra Cotta Ave. Crystal Lake. Visitation will continue from 9:30 am until the 10:30 am funeral mass on Thurs, June 26 at St. Mary Catholic Church, 10307 Dundee Rd. Huntley, IL. Cremation rites will be accorded. In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to Cure Alzheimers Fund at www.curealz.org.
