

He was born on February 20, in Holzminden, Germany.
He is survived by his wife Christel, his daughters Kathren Krohn, Doris Mueller and Andrea (Steve) Kovacevich, daughter-in-law Victoria Snyder-Mueller, his granddaughters Alesa Mueller, Morgan (Bill Wisvader) Mueller, Kailen Mueller, and Kaitlyn (Tom) Enright and his great grandchildren Billy and Scarlet Wisvader and Grace Enright. As well as many nephews and nieces in Germany. Herbert was preceded in death by his son Thomas M Mueller and his son-in- law Steven D Krohn.
Along with his future wife Christel, Herbert immigrated to the United States via Hoboken, New Jersey in March of 1959. Herbert and Christel married on December 12, 1959 in Oak Park, Illinois. He was drafted into the United States Army in 1960 and served until 1962 attaining a rank of Specialist Fourth Class.
Herbert was a long time member of the Marengo American Legion Post 192 and later proudly served in the Elgin American Legion Post 57 Honor Guard. At the time of his passing Herbert was a member the Huntley American Legion Post 673.
Herbert was a highly skilled precision machinist-a trade he learned in Germany. He enjoyed music, fishing, and traveling. He was a Chicago Bears super fan and loved the Chicago Blackhawks.
Visitation will be held from 9:00am-11:00am, with the funeral service to follow at 11am on Thursday, April 30, 2026, at Zion Lutheran Church, 412 Jackson St, Marengo.
Burial will occur on Friday, May 1, 2026 at 10:00am at Memory Gardens, 2501 E Euclid Ave, Arlington Heights.
