

James G. Palek, 87, of Crystal Lake, passed away December 22, 2016. Born February 21, 1929 in Chicago; he was the son of James and Vlasta (Cekan) Palek. He married Genevieve D. Ungerecht on April 22, 1950 in Chicago.
James retired from Black Dot after 31 years of employment. He was a member of the Mens Garden Club, Sokol Organization and a Boy Scout troop leader for a number of years.
He enjoyed gardening, gymnastics, fishing, bonsai trees, camp-fire cooking, barbecue, summers in Pike Lake, WI and spending time with his family.
Survivors include his children, Debi (Tom) Malone, Sue Ellen (Bill Bacon) McKinnon, Tom (Lynn) Palek, Steve (Kathy) Palek, Nadine (Steve) Csech, Paul Palek and Jon (Linda) Palek; 16 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife; parents; son-in-law, Ray McKinnon; and brother, Robert Palek.
Visitation 4 until 6 p.m. Thursday, December 29th, with service to follow at 6 p.m. at Querhammer & Flagg Funeral Home, 500 W. Terra Cotta Avenue, Crystal Lake.
