Janice was born in Plymouth, WI, to Frank and Geraldine (Knowles) Flath and grew up in Glenbeulah, WI. She graduated from grade school there and from Goodrich Senior High in Fond du lac, WI. She married Kenneth Felix in September, 1960 in Mount Calvary, WI. She was employed as a secretary at Amity Leather Products in West Bend, WI, Boris Smoller Clothing manufacturer and Brocks candy in Chicago until the birth of her first child. Later she was a nurse’s aide at West Suburban Hospital in Oak Park, IL, until the birth of her second child.
She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Ken; her two children: Ken (Kristan) Felix, of Fox River and Denise (Brian) Rose, of Guilford, IN; her 5 grandchildren: Connor and Darcy Rose, Jacob, Jane and Everett Felix; her siblings: Larry, Roland, Terry and Mary. Janice is preceded in death by her mother and father, Frank and Geraldine (Knowles) Flath; and her brother Lynn Flath.
She was a member of St. Thomas the Apostle Church in Crystal Lake. She was a very good artist and attended the Chicago Art Institute on Saturdays for 2 years. She was also loved and was good at cooking, sewing, wood working, making jewelry, raising and painting gourds, among other hobbies. She also built bird houses out of wood and gourds, and loved using power tools. She loved a challenge.
Visitation at Querhammer & Flagg Funeral Home, on Monday, December 17, 2018 from 4pm-8pm, where Funeral Prayers will begin on Tuesday, December 18, 2018 at 9:30am and proceed to St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, 451 W. Terra Cotta Ave., Crystal Lake, for Mass at 10am. Interment to follow at Crystal Lake Memorial Park.
