Julie Ann Miklasz-Hughes

Julie Ann Miklasz-Hughes, age 66, of McHenry, Illinois passed away on Wednesday, May 14, 2025. She was born on April 12, 1959 to Donald and Bonnie (Raquet) Miklasz in Elgin, Illinois. She grew up in Lake in the Hills, Illinois and graduated from Crystal Lake Central High School. She worked in banking and insurance for most of her life. Julie met the love of her life, Thomas Hughes, while dancing at Hob Knob. They spent 35 wonderful years together at their home in McHenry.

Julie was a loving, kind, outgoing person, who was not afraid to tell you what she was thinking. She enjoyed cooking, especially a big corned beef & cabbage meal for St. Patrick's Day and a beef tenderloin for Easter. She never passed up a motorcycle jacket that she could wear in style. She was skilled enough to make her own clothes, and enjoyed crafting with her mom Bonnie whenever she could. Julie was a sympathetic, compassionate person who was always there for those she loved. She was a blessing to all who knew her, and will remain in their hearts forever.

Julie will be dearly missed by her husband, Thomas Hughes; her mother, Bonnie Miklasz; her stepdaughters Jenny Hughes, Jeanna Hughes & Jill (Jason) Zupansic; her siblings, "John" Miklasz, Brian (Denise) Miklasz, Jim Miklasz & Steve (Cheryl) Miklasz; her nieces & nephews Chris, Zack (Van), Jason, Jim & Abby; her great-niece Sophia; and many beloved cousins, extended family members and friends.

Julie was preceded in death by her father, Donald Miklasz; and her grandparents.

A visitation for Julie will be held on Thursday, May 22, 2025 from 5-7pm at Querhammer & Flagg Funeral Home, 500 W. Terra Cotta Ave., Crystal Lake, IL. A funeral mass will be held on Friday, May 23, 2025 at 10am at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, 451 W. Terra Cotta Ave., Crystal Lake, IL. Following Mass, a burial will take place at Crystal Lake Memorial Park.
