

Lois Charlene (Brown) Cryer died peacefully at Sunrise of Crystal Lake with her family by her side after a long courageous battle with Parkinson's. She was 89. Lois was born in Peoria, IL to Lydia and Charles Brown. They moved to a small farm in Atlanta where she grew up and developed her love for animals and gardening and met her future husband. In high school Lois was an excellent student and enjoyed being active in school theater. She married Robert (Del) Cryer and they moved to Crystal Lake, IL where they raised their two children. Lois was an avid reader, a passionate bridge player, and a talented bowler. Her competitive nature led her to play in tournaments where she was often successful. Lois loved animals, especially her dogs. She enjoyed travelling and theater, and at home, her many activities included cooking and gardening. She loved being a mother.
Lois closely followed local and world events and discussed her opinions with family and friends.
She is survived by her husband of 72 years Robert (Del) Cryer of Crystal Lake, her daughter Debra Cryer and son-in-law Sandy Goldman of Eastham, MA., her grandsons Zack Goldman and his wife Kenia and Alex Goldman and his wife Abby. She was predeceased by her son Kevin Cryer of Cary, IL. A private burial will be held at Windridge Memorial Park in Cary on Thursday January 22, 2026. Donations in her memory can be made to the Parkinson’s Foundation.
