

Luella A. Voss, 98, of Crystal Lake, passed away January 21, 2017 in Elgin. Born October 4, 1918 in Elk Grove; she was the daughter of Martin and Martha (Goebbert) Linnemann. She married Kenneth Krueger Charles Voss on May 3, 1947 in Palatine.
A graduate of Palatine High School, Luella would still attend the monthly Golden Girls luncheons with other Palatine graduates. During WWII she worked for Douglas Aviation; and she retired from Oak Manufacturing after more than 30 years of employment. Luella was a member of Lord and Savior Lutheran Church, having taught Sunday School for 30 plus years. She also volunteered over the years with the Environmental Defenders of McHenry County, Bethesda Thrift Store and Gideon’s.
One of her greatest accomplishments was doing research and publishing the Linnemann family tree.
She enjoyed knitting, crochet, making afghans for her family, gardening, cooking and spending time with her lap dog, Rylee.
She is lovingly survived by her daughter, Dawn M. Payne; granddaughter, Megan Payne; great-grandchildren, Matthew and Michael (Emily) Dugger, Jason (Ariel) and Krystoffer Polgar; great, great-grandchildren, EvaMay, T.J., Steven, Jaxsyn and A.J. Dugger, Lily and Alex Polgar.
Luella was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son-in-law, Steven Payne; sisters, Mildred Dow, Esther Thies and Lorraine Linneweh; step-granddaughter, Tomi Payne.
We are not mourning her death, but celebrating her life. She loved bright colors, so feel free to wear bright colors to celebrate with us.
Visitation 4-8 p.m., Tuesday January 24, 2017 at Querhammer & Flagg Funeral Home, 500 W. Terra Cotta Ave., Crystal Lake. Visitation continued 9 a.m. until time of service, 10 a.m. Wednesday January 25, 2017, at Lord & Savior Lutheran Church, 9300 Ridgefield Rd, Crystal Lake.
