

Mario Lombardi, 88, of Crystal Lake died Friday November 18, 2011 at Provena St. Joseph’s Hospital in Elgin. He was born November 25, 1922 in Chicago to Michele and Amelia (Cherri) Lombardi. He served in the US Army during WWII. On February 16, 1947 he married Geraldine Governale in Chicago. He worked as a building engineer for the Board of Education in Chicago for 27 years until his retirement in 1989. After retirement, he worked for Jewel in Algonquin. He was an accomplished upholsterer, enjoyed painting, reading, and working in his workshop.
He is survived by his wife Geraldine; children Michael (Geralyn) Lombardi, Domenica Roehrborn; grandchildren Michael (Avani) Lombardi, David (Deanna) Lombardi, Philip Roehrborn; and a sister Marianna Mirabella. He is preceded in death by his parents and son-in-law Raymond Roehrborn.
Visitation will be from 4-8 pm on Monday Nov 21 at Querhammer & Flagg Funeral Home, 500 W. Terra Cotta Ave. Crystal Lake. Funeral mass will be at 10 am on Tuesday Nov 22 at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, 1023 McHenry Ave. Crystal Lake. In lieu of flowers memorial may be given to the Alzheimer’s Assn. 225 N. Michigan Ave. Ste 1700, Chicago, IL. 60601.
