Mary Gladys Rueff

Mary was born November 5, 1928 in Terrenceville, Newfoundland, Canada to John and Margaret Hickey. On February 11, 1951, she married Robert E. Rueff in St. Johns, Newfoundland, Canada.

Mary worked in the cafeteria at West Elementary in Crystal Lake for District 47. She was a devoted member of St. Thomas the Apostle Church in Crystal Lake, as well as the Moose Lodge.

Mary is survived by her children, Margaret Sattler, John (Joan) Rueff, Patricia Frederick, Patrick (Suzanne) Rueff, Jim (Sandra) Rueff; her 11 grandchildren; her 9 great-grandchildren; her sister-in-law Brenda Rueff; and many beloved extended family members and friends.

Mary was preceded in death by her beloved husband Robert; her parents John & Margaret Hickey; her son, Jerry Rueff; and her siblings Sara Ann Fizzard, Patrick Hickey, Augustine Hickey, Mary Barger, & Jerry Hickey.

A wake for Mary will be held Monday, July 14, 2025 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Querhammer & Flagg Funeral Home, 500 West Terra Cotta Ave, Crystal Lake, IL 60014. A funeral mass will take place Tuesday, July 15, 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, 451 W Terra Cotta Ave, Crystal Lake, IL 60014, followed by a burial at Crystal Lake Memorial Park Cemetery, 8012 Ridgefield Rd, Crystal Lake, IL 60012.
