It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Nancy Kay Smetters, who left us on December 24, 2025, at the age of 74. Nancy was born in Chicago to James and Alice (Shortell) Doolin, and grew up alongside her older sister, Mary Ann.
In 1966, Nancy met the love of her life, Craig Smetters. The two were married on November 22, 1969, and shared a life filled with love, laughter, and adventure. Together, they raised two sons, Craig Jr. and Casey, who brought endless pride and joy to her life.
Nancy is survived by her sons, Craig Jr. (Renee) and Casey (Nikki); her grandchildren, Collin, Hunter, Avery, Jameson, Ambrosia, and Finn; her sister, Mary Ann; and many cherished family members and friends.
She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Craig Smetters, and her parents, James and Alice Doolin.
Nancy’s memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew her. Her love for her family and her warmth towards others will be dearly missed.
