The time we had with Norah was truly a miracle. Diagnosed with Trisomy 13 in May of 2024 and not expected to survive to birth, she proved to be a fighter. Born on 10/24/24, she graced our family with 102 precious days. During her life, she was looked after with utmost care by the NICU team at Lurie Children’s Hospital in Chicago. Every nurse and specialist provided excellent care, and Norah’s primary nurses, who truly got to know her and our family, offered an extra measure of love and support for all of us.
Norah loved snuggles and received countless warm embraces from Mom, Amanda, Dad, Kyle, her brothers Andrew, William, and Callum, as well as other family members and friends.
In her brief life, Norah taught us the true meaning of resilience and grace. Norah’s name means light and promise of God. She has brought God's light to many people around the world who have walked with us, and prayed for us on this journey. Every day with her was a testament to the miracles that unfold when hope and faith intertwine. She inspired us to cherish every precious moment, to hold our loved ones even tighter, and to trust in God’s plan, even when the path ahead seemed uncertain.
We are eternally grateful for the compassionate care provided by the extraordinary team at Lurie Children’s NICU. Their dedication, kindness, and unwavering support shone as a beacon of light during our darkest hours. They embraced Norah as if she were their own, and in doing so, helped fortify our family with strength and hope.
Ecclesiastes 7:1b The day of death is better than the day of birth. It is better to go to a house of mourning than to go to a house of feasting, for death is the destiny of every man; the living should take this to heart.
Though Norah’s time with us was all too brief, her legacy will live on in the hearts of everyone who loved her. Her memory is a constant reminder that even the smallest lives can leave the biggest imprints on our souls. We will carry her spirit with us, celebrating her life every day, and we know that one day we will be reunited in Heaven where there is no pain, only everlasting joy with our Lord and Savior. This is the promise of God’s word to us.
