Paul Edward Van Witzenburg, 86, died peacefully on Thursday, February 13, 2025 in Crystal Lake, IL.
He was born on July 17, 1938, in Chicago to Ysbrand and Helen (nee Rodeghiero) Van Witzenburg. One of four sons, Paul was a veteran of the United States Navy and a Dale Carnegie graduate. He found his calling as a stockbroker – a career that spanned over 50 years.
In 1968, Paul moved to Crystal Lake with his beloved wife of 50 years, Jeanette. They raised four children and played an integral role in their grandchildren's lives. Paul enjoyed a glass of wine on the beach in Door County, raking leaves in the fall on Kellogg Lane and a philosophical conversation about religion with anyone who would listen. His children have fond memories of celebrating his 80th birthday at the Jordan winery in California.
Paul was preceded in death by his wife, Jeanette (nee Fischer); his brothers, Donald and Carl Van Witzenburg and his son-in-law, Christopher Durcan. He is survived by his four children: Mary Ann (Peter) Blendonohy, Steven (Kimberly) Van Witzenburg, Adam (Theresa) Van Witzenburg and Martha Durcan; his 11 grandchildren: Nicholas, Alida, Michael, Alexander, Matthew, Grace, Ryan, Nathan, James, Kathryn, and Matilda; his brother Brian (Rosemary) Van Witzenburg; and his loving partner of 7 years, Carol Blohm.
Memorials can be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
