Peggy G. Quick, 86, passed away April 15th, 2023, at her home in Crystal Lake, IL with her family by her side. She was born on August 13th, 1936 in Astakos, Greece to Elia and Athina Georgalis and immigrated to the United States with her parents and two brothers, Frank and Tom Georgalis. Peggy met the love of her life, Larry Quick, while attending Eastern Illinois University. Peggy and Larry were married for 58 years and raised their daughter, Lara Moody, in their cherished home in Crystal Lake. Peggy worked at McHenry High School as a Foreign Language Teacher and Department Head, teaching English, French and Spanish. Her love for education was not just expressed in teaching, but also in learning, earning two Master’s Degrees.
She loved to introduce people to foreign languages and culture. She enjoyed traveling and practicing her many languages on trips to Europe, Mexico, South America, and the Caribbean. She especially enjoyed her trips to Greece to visit family. She brought her Greek spirit to everything she put her mind to and loved to entertain with lavish feasts for her guests.
Peggy was preceded in death by her parents Elia and Athina Georgalis, her brother Frank Georgalis, and her husband Larry Quick.
Peggy is survived by her daughter Lara Moody, Lara’s husband Scott Moody, her grandsons, Alexander and Andrew Moody, her brother Tom Georgalis and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held Friday, April 21st from 4 to 6 pm at Querhammer & Flagg Funeral Home in Crystal Lake, Il. A private burial will be held on Saturday, April 22nd.
