We are saddened to announce the passing of our beloved father, Raymond Marlewski on July 27, 2019. Raymond was born in Chicago to Al and Rose Marlewski. Raymond was an only child and served as a Medic in the Navy during World War II. Ray met his future wife (Margaret) while singing in the church choir at St. Vincent DePaul. Margaret Kettrick immigrated to the United States from Ireland and married Raymond on Sept 20, 1952. They moved to the suburbs where they ran the Buffalo Grove General Store, running the family grocery business for more than a decade and raising four children during those hectic years. Eventually, Raymond and Margaret moved to Sun City, Arizona where they enjoyed more than 20 years of sun and relaxation before Margaret lost her battle with Alzheimer’s. Recently, Ray moved to a full-care facility in Idaho to be closer to his eldest daughter Debbie and her husband Jim. He will be missed by his children, Debbie, Marie, Bonnie and Pam; grandson Garret. Ray was preceded in death by his granddaughter Katie. There will be a gathering from 9am to 10:30am on Saturday, August 17 at Querhammer & Flagg Funeral Home, 500 W. Terra Cotta Ave., Crystal Lake. There will be a memorial service with military honors at 10:30am. In lieu of flowers, donations to your local VFW or Hospice would be appreciated.
