He was born February 20, 1926 in Chicago to Joseph and Mayme (Polansky) Tyk. After his father's unexpected passing when Dick was only one, he was raised by his mother and stepfather, William Capouch. In true service to his country, he gave up an opportunity to try out for the Chicago Cubs and joined the U.S. Navy. After World War II, he married Phyllis Kluga on September 18, 1948 in Chicago.
Dick was an avid golfer and bowler, and played softball well into his 50s. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. Family was important to him, especially his grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and pets.
Dick is survived by his children, Richard W. (Diane) Tyk, Susan Pearson, Dennis (Denise) Tyk; his grandchildren, Kelly, Janet (Jack), Traci (Jason), Kristen, and Katelyn (Matt); and his great-grandchildren, Tristan, Brandon, Abbey, Jayden, Stella, Hudson, Madison, S.J. and Harper.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Phyllis; his son-in-law, Rick Pearson; his siblings, William and Rosemary.
There will be a visitation from 9am to the 11am funeral service on Friday, July 16 at Querhammer & Flagg Funeral Home, 500 W. Terra Cotta Ave., Crystal Lake.
Interment will be in Crystal Lake Memorial Park.
