Robert J. Shanahan, 64, of Lakewood died Thursday, May 1, 2014 after a brief illness. He was born February 24, 1950 in Evanston to Phillip and Barbara Shanahan. He was the former owner of Clasens’ Tavern in Union for many years. He enjoyed spending time with his many friends.
He is survived by his brothers and sisters: Tom (Linda) Shanahan, Tim (Patty) Shanahan, Jim Shanahan, Rick Shanahan, Mary Pat (Steve) Teague, Ann (Joe) Schmidt,; nieces and nephews: Jackie, Shelley, Brittany, Brandan and Elizabeth. He is preceded in death by his parents.
A memorial visitation will be from 4-8 pm with a time of sharing at 8 pm on Tuesday, May 6 at Querhammer & Flagg Funeral Home, 500 W. Terra Cotta Ave. Crystal Lake. In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to the American Diabetes Assn at www.diabetes.org or Kay’s Animal Shelter, 2705 N. Arlington Heights Rd. Arlington Heights, IL. 60004.
