On July 12, 1943, Sally Ann Tibbetts was born to Frank and Winnie Tibbetts in Hibbing, Minnesota. Sally grew up living in both Minnesota and California. Starting in grade school and into high school Sally excelled in dance. In her junior and senior years, she taught classes in tap, ballet, and baton twirling. She choreographed many Summer Stock productions.
Sally had three wonderful children, Kelly (William) Hallam, Rob (Bridgett) Leanna and Shannon (Danny) Taylor. Her grandchildren were Amanda (Daniel) Antczak, Joshua (Mobashera) Hallam, Alexandra (Cody) Kunz, Sara Taylor, Jeremy (Katie) Leanna, Sydney Leanna, Dominic Taylor, and Haley Leanna. Her great grandchildren were Summer Taylor, Zane Hallam, Emma Kunz, Myles Kunz and Zara Hallam.
While raising her children, Sally was a room mother several times, a Brownie leader, an assistant Girl Scout leader. In addition, she was active in the Jaycettes. As a member, she was part of the Helping Hands campaign, which was a huge success.
Once all three of her children were in school full time, Sally herself decided to go to college. She earned a BS in Nursing and an MS in Clinical Social Work and was certified in Drug and Alcohol Abuse. With her diplomas in hand, she worked for Woodstock Memorial Hospital, and Kishwaukee Valley Medical group. She was an administrator for a nursing home in which she earned the Governor’s Award for excellence in Nursing Home Administration. She also worked as a Social worker for Youth Service Bureau and hospice.
On October 20, 1979, Sally Ann married Edward Henslee, the love of her life. Sally and Edward made Crystal Lake, Illinois their home. They enjoyed having a Koi Pond. Both loved watching the fish and the seasonal visits from the Mallard ducks that visited the pond.
Sally and Edward were surrounded by such wonderful neighbors. The neighbors helped by offering rides to and from doctor’s appointments, lawn maintenance, snow removal and being great listeners. Sally and Edward were truly blessed.
The highlight of Sally’s life was her family. She attended many sporting events, school concerts, plays and graduations. She was a hands-on Beanzie (grandmother). Her husband, kids, grandkids and great grandkids were the core of her soul.
Sally was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Greg and her sister Becky Hannagan. She is survived by her brother Currie Tibbetts, her husband Edward, her 8 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.
Sally was a terrific wife, mom, Beanzie (grandma) and great Beanzie (great grandma). Her friends and family will miss her terribly. In our hearts, we know that she is in Heaven. Sally …You were the shining star of our family. Rest now, sweet Sally.
