Sandy found her love of animals on her grandparents’ farm as a child, where she raised a pet rooster. Sandy’s love of animals would continue through her life with many beloved dogs and a lifetime of horseback riding. Her horse, Shilo was her pride and joy.
Sandy began her life of philanthropy as a teen Candy Striper at Lutheran General Hospital. Her heart drew her to help many people, giving a hand of emotional support, time, money, a warm meal, or a comforting roof over their heads.
Sandy was a lifetime accountant. She was very proud to run her tax business from her home for over 40 years. She had many treasured clients and, incredibly, continued working into her 84th year of life.

The light of Sandy’s life was her family. She enjoyed spending time with her husband, Bob; cooking, gardening, traveling and watching their weekly shows. Her greatest lifetime achievement was her place as matriarch of an incredibly tight family of over 30 children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
