OBITUARY
Sean E. Becker
March 26, 1970 – May 24, 2011
McHenry—Sean E. Becker, 41, of McHenry passed away May 24, 2011, at his home. He was born March 26, 1970, in Miami, Florida. He was born with a heart condition and had his first open heart surgery when he was only 4 weeks. Music was his life; he had an extensive record collection, and would proudly be considered a “Dead Head.” He followed Grateful Dead for many years while they were on tour. He also worked at Full Cyrkle Records in Crystal Lake from the time he was 15 until they closed. He loved the Stooges and other old movies. He worked at Borders in McHenry for many years until just before their closing. He also attended AA in McHenry. He loved his kitty, Ruby, who he rescued. He had many friends who cared greatly for him. He is survived by his mother, Donna (Gary) Evenson; his father, Claude (Heidi) Becker; his step-mother, Yvonne Haggerty; his brother, Troy Becker; his half-sister, Courtney (John) Cassaras; and step-siblings, Troy Evenson, Traci (Latham) Lewis, and Teri Zies; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his grandma, Pat Sorenson. Visitation will be from 4pm to the 6pm Memorial service on Friday, May 27, at Querhammer & Flagg Funeral Home, 500 W. Terra Cotta Ave., Crystal Lake. Memorials may be made to Loyola University Health System, Office of Development and External Affairs, ATTN: Traci Guyton, 2160 S. 1st Ave., Maywood, IL 60153, with a memo for Heart Transplant Unit.

I am so sad to hear about Sean. He was such a kind and good hearted man with a great sense of humor ( he got all my jokes!) I always asked Sean when a customer at Borders had a music question. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family and friends. Diana

It was a beautiful tribute to Sean tonight. A great way to celebrate a great person. Many people have told me that I got them hooked on a lot of bands. In all honesty, it was Sean and Full Cyrkle that were responsible. Sean helped change my life and world. I can't express enough what an important part in my life he and Skip played. He was an incredibly special guy. RIP bud.

I met Sean at the Full Cyrkle store in 2002. He made record-buying a lot of fun, and he always had a good musical suggestion or two....or three....or more! More than anything, I would always leave the store in a better frame of mind than when I came in. That's the kind of positive impact Sean had on me, and I'm sure others would agree. There aren't many people who have the ability to make someone's day brighter.....Sean had that. Thanks, Sean, for being everything that you were. God bless you, pal.

Donna & Gary,
Words cannot even begin to express how sorry I was to hear about Sean. He was always a joy to see and talk to, a wealth of pop culture trivia and he had such a kind, loving spirit. He will deeply be missed but will be with all of us always, in our hearts. May you both find strength and comfort in knowing he lived life to the fullest and always had the best sense of humor. I keep thinking about him doing the countless Amos & Andy episodes.

Sean was one of the most honestly nice people I have ever known. The world would be far better with more like him. It is far worse without him. Thanks for the laughter, Sean.

Thank you Donna and Gary for taking such loving care of Sean. Sean,as the long lost uncle in S. Florida I haven't seen a picture of you for some 30 years. Dude, you look great! See you inherited your father's full head of hair. Missed you 'hut hut' but we'll see one another again someday. Say hello to mom for me. She must be thrilled to see you again. May God shine his light upon the Evenson family.

I have not seen Sean in some years, but I have some very fond memories of him. We went to elementary school together. In later years we used to hang out at his "Full Cyrkle" apartment listening to his vast GD collection, we had also spent some time on the road together. I am very thankful for those memories. My condolences.

I am stunned at Sean's passing, and being a reporter...at a loss for words. We all knew his health was always an issue, yet it didn't prevent him from being a good soul. All of us spent countless hours with him, and those good memories will sustain us, and always find him.
