

Sharon Chickering Moller of Crystal Lake, IL, passed away peacefully on July 6, 2025, with her daughter, Felicia Moller, by her side. Sharon is predeceased by her daughter, Pilar Moller (2018), and loving husband of 50 years, Peter (2022). She leaves behind her daughter, Felicia Moller (Dave Inglis); two grandsons, Zachary and Nathan Inglis; and five siblings (Lorene, Janet & Mark Chickering of Vermont; Mary Ellen Chickering of Colorado; and Heidi Chickering of North Carolina).
Sharon was born and raised in Vermont, and received her Master’s in Library Science from the University of New York at Syracuse, where she met her husband, Peter Moller. In 1972 Sharon and Peter moved to Chile where they served as missionaries for three years. Sharon’s experiences in Chile had a profound impact on the rest of her life.
Sharon and Peter lived for 35 years in Leadville, Colorado, where Sharon enjoyed an active outdoor life, and held leadership roles with the Girl Scouts and her church. She was the director of the college library in Leadville and expanded its reach to offer resources to the Spanish-speaking community. Sharon’s quiet, but steadfast commitment to diversity and inclusivity benefitted countless people.
Sharon helped lead educational trips to Mexico and Central America. She also joined many work trips to Latin America through her church affiliations. She enjoyed other world travels with her family, and had a profound appreciation for cultural diversity. In addition to travel, Sharon loved to read and published two books.
After retiring, Sharon and Peter moved to Traverse City, Michigan, where they built their dream green-energy home and enjoyed several years of volunteer work. Sharon slowed down after receiving a diagnosis of Parkinson’s Disease, and eventually moved to live near her daughter, Felicia, in Crystal Lake, IL.
A celebration of her life will be held on Sunday, August 3, at 1pm at the Quarry Cable Park in Crystal Lake, IL. The celebration will also be livestreamed on the Querhammer & Flagg Funeral Home Facebook page.
