Steven had a generous and humble spirit. He loved to laugh. He always put others first. Family and friends meant everything to him; he made sure everyone always knew how much he cared. He was just as open and caring with those he just met. Steven truly listened to what people said and always showed compassion for what they were going through. He was passionate about life. He had a very big heart.
Steven found spirituality in the beauty in nature, in wild, untamed places. He loved animals. Music played a pivotal role in Steven's life, whether it was playing the drums, collecting vinyl records, or sharing music with friends and family. He loved old films, especially cult horror movies, and could talk and laugh for hours about the subject. His infectious laugh, the meaning he found in every moment, his gentle openness and belief in peace and freedom, these will all be remembered. He will be missed by many.
He is survived by his parents, Kathy and Tom Kus, and Steven J. and Linda Orre; his siblings, Nathan and Lucas Orre; his step-siblings, Katrine and Jimmy Capek; his grandmas, Barb Orre, Ruby Weis, and Arline MacKenzie; his aunts, Karen (Joe) Bellini and Peggy (Mark Parr) Fortune; and his cousins, Ryan (Danielle) Loomer, Katie Bellini, Nathaniel Parr; and many other loving cousins and friends. He is survived by Cat his beloved pet. He was preceded in death by his grandpas, Arthur Orre and Paul MacKenzie and his Aunts Patricia Loomer and Patty Wolf.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8pm on Monday, August 1 at Querhammer & Flagg Funeral Home, 500 W. Terra Cotta Ave., Crystal Lake. Family and friends may gather at the funeral home at 11am on Tuesday, August 2 to go in procession for an 11:30am graveside service at Crystal Lake Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Steven's honor to the National Alliance for the Mentally Ill or the House of Mercy to help the homeless.
