Uncle Bill was and still is the hero in my life. My godfather, my mentor, my inspiration in life.  I looked up to him in so many ways.  I have an empty hole in my heart knowing he is no longer on this earth but I do feel his presence watching over me from a very high place. I love you Uncle Bill.

My condolences to the Murphy family for the passing of Coach Murphy.  I had the pleasure to meet him about ten years ago as I re-started my "career" playing baseball with the Johnsburg Tigers.  He & Mike McBride together gave me a chance to get reacquainted with a game I love ona good team with good coaching - Murph, as a coach, taught me things as an adult player that I am currently applying and teaching to the 11 & 12 yr old kids I coach today.  Another time back then my Dad had passed on (another good Irishman!) and I showed up to play a game a few days later and while that wound was still pretty fresh, the compassion and comfort that Mr. Murphy extended to me was warm and sincere and genuine and something very simple and yet I will always remember that day (Hiller Park, Johnsburg, April 2003).  Guys like him, in my opinion, have won the ultimate prize.  May his spirit live on in many, as I know it will.  Thanks, Murph!  The pleasure was all mine!  #7

Our deepest sympathy is sent to all the Murphy family during this difficult time.  What a wonderful man Mr. Murphy was and we are all better for knowing him.  Although we did not see him often over the last several years, when we did get the opportunity, we always walked away with a smile on our face!  He certainly loved his Irish heritage!

So many childhood memories of my dear Uncle Bill--a few even with my great-grandmother, Mary Ann Kearns. My mother, Theresa, selected him as my Godfather. He walked me down the aisle, replacing a missing father. I always felt loved, cherished and protected with him. And no one had more sense of fun than Uncle Bill. I remember the laughter, the insights, the wisdom gained and his deep love for Aunt Kathy. He'll always remain in my heart.


Mr. Murphy, you were so lovely. I always got so excited to see you and Mrs. Murphy when you'd come in to eat. You will be dearly missed. Thoughts and Prayers go to the entire Family. <3
