Gregory P. Gregory left his mortal life and was born into everlasting life on January 18, 2012. He was preceded in death by his wife Rolla. He is survived by his two sisters, Violet (Spiro) Skuteris and Sophia (Nick) Papas; his five children, Paul (Beth), Angela, Eleni, Greg (Mary) and Dean (Pasie); eleven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren and extended family including cousins, nieces, nephews and friends, along with his dear friend Esther Harris.
The first generation in the United States, Greg was born on May 25, 1921 to Greek immigrant parents, raised in Cudahy and spent most of his life there. He graduated from Cudahy High School in 1939, attended Marquette University where he played football and graduated in 1943 with a degree in Mechanical Engineering while the world was at war. Greg was commissioned as an Ensign in the Navy and served his country during World War II for nearly three years on the aircraft carrier USS Hornet (CV 12) in the Pacific Theater where he participated in many historic naval battles against the Imperial Navy of Japan. At the end of the war and his tour of duty he continued to serve his country as a naval reserve officer until June of 1965.
Greg returned to Marquette University and entered law school, graduating in 1948 and began a long, successful career in the legal profession. He worked at the Patent Office in Washington, DC for two years and then returned to Cudahy where he worked at Ladish Company and AC Delco. He married Rolla Tseffos in November 1951, began construction on a home in Cudahy and started a law practice. He served as an Alderman for the City of Cudahy for two terms before running and being elected as the Cudahy Municipal Justice of the Peace. At one point in his career he was the municipal judge for Cudahy, Oak Creek and South Milwaukee simultaneously. He also served as the City Attorney for Franklin for 18 years. He served on the bench for Cudahy for 35 years, retiring in 1998.
Retirement from the bench did not mean he retired from work. Greg continued to provide legal service to clients from a home office when they needed his assistance. He was an avid golfer and loved to spend time with his family. He lived a long, successful and honorable life in service to his country and his city. He is sorely missed by all who knew him.
